FROM TASTER TO PERFORMANCE
A clear route, from a child's first lesson to lifelong judo.
Our foremost aim at Kudos Judo is to ensure our students enjoy judo by keeping our sessions fun and engaging. But children most of all need a structured pathway to follow. The pathway we have exists so no child ever hits a ceiling because they didn't know what came next.
GRADING
The belt grading
pathway.
Every child progresses through eight colours on the way to black belt. Each belt is a milestone — new skills, new responsibilities, and a new piece of the moral code.

BEGINNER
White belt
The starting point. Every judoka begins here — from a four-year-old's first session to a Kudos coach.
- Focus
- Falling safely (ukemi), balance, and mat etiquette. Learning to bow, to tie a belt, to respect the tatami.
- Moral code
- Politeness & Respect
Grading ceremonies are held at the end of each school term. Children are only graded when coaches are confident they can safely demonstrate every skill at their level.
